Overview

Stopùki̊bwu Se was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1262, by Ǵaynts Lowcock. The establishment of Stopùki̊bwu Se suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.

Stopùki̊bwu Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Stopùki̊bwu Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

Stopùki̊bwu Se is buildings are built arround a single narrow split-log ties mainstreet which forms a counterclockwise spiral to give the town a over all circular shape. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. The town's would-be-castle fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously well maintained. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with routine mantance of the town's defences.

Stopùki̊bwu Se has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Stopùki̊bwu Se ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Even with that as it is, everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or much of both. The town should be gone, not dying. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Cultural Notes

Stopùki̊bwu Se's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

In Stopùki̊bwu Se rainbows form quite often above the Town.

The Magmin near Stopùki̊bwu Se are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Stopùki̊bwu Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Augury energies of tier 1 via divine sermons.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Stopùki̊bwu Se was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Stopùki̊bwu Se lost 184 people, 201 livestock, and 28 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 186, when members of Stopùki̊bwu Se's militia enacted an operation to extract assets from a ruin under siege by the enemy. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a stalemate for Stopùki̊bwu Se's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Stopùki̊bwu Se's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
